Summary This collection consists of 18 photographs. There are 8 black & white photos and 13 sepia tone photos. The photos are odd sized. They range from 6.25 x 10 in. to 11 x 14 in. Each photograph is identified by Howard Lougheed, including the people in the photographs to the best of his knowledge. Many of the photos are by Clark Kinsey. Many of the photos are numbered and say Kinsey photo. Many of the photos look as if they may have been hanging in an office at Mason County Logging Co. because they have thumb tack holes in the corners, scotch tape on them and haven't been taken care as if they were in an album. Many photos have a red ink number in the left hand corner. A couple of the photos were found in the Clark Kinsey Digital Collection at the University of Washington. The collection also contains a map of the Capitol Forest by the State of Washington, Dept. of Natural Resources. Mr. Lougheed had marked the locations of logging camps and other locations important to the Mason County Logging Co
Notes Gift; Mrs. Howard (Geraldine) Lougheed; [1980-?]
Mason County Logging Company was started in 1891 as a standard-gauge logging railroad. Mason County Logging Company incorporated on Aug. 2, 1892 by Mark Draham and the Bordeaux brothers. They operated camps along the Washington Southern Railway line and near Isabella Lake, on the Shelton Southwestern Railway line. By 1924, the Company headquartered near Bordeaux, WA. The company operated until 1941. Howard Lougheed's wife, Geraldine, gave these pictures to the Washington State Library. Although Howard Lougheed is in several pictures taken by Kinsey, Lougheed's relationship to the Mason County Logging Company is unclear at this time
